Captcha!

Don’t you love those little things with all the ridiculously hard-to-read letters? You know, the ones you have to fill in to sign up on certain websites, or maybe to leave a comment on a friend’s blog? They’re called “Captchas” and their sole purpose in life is to make sure you’re not a robot. Cool job.

Tell me, though, do they really have to look like this?  I know I’m going to get it wrong.  I’m trying to not be a robot… but they keep telling me I am.

Well, there’s good news on the Google side of things!  I don’t know how they do it, but Google’s Captcha machine/leprechaun/captain/whatever-or-whoever-makes-these-things sure does a great job of making them fun.  Sure they’re not real words, but they sound like it.  Here are a few captchas I’ve seen while commenting on friends’ blogs.  Make sure to say them all out loud:

And now, because it’s important, I present a story involving all of the above words.

One day there was a boy named Peleinge.  He was a Miggleneck (a somewhat dinasque facktion of people, known for their love of taters).  Peleinge had a strange disease that prevented him from properly treating his diabetes–he would get nervous, take an ancystab with his suringe, and end up entirely missing (hitting himself in the rear).  This frequently led to trips to the proco.  And he liked to yell, “turimpa!” whenever he wore his sueter to drug regab.

Alright.  So I got bored at the end there.  Anyway, fake words are fun.  If you ever get bored, try to convince a friend that dinasque is a real word.  And let me know how that turns out.

-Britton

Dinasque (dih-nàsk) – adj. – overly assumptive, requiring too much of others in a situation. – I thought it a bit dinasque when he asked us to combine his several packages of dental floss into a single, larger package.

  5. You should give up your career as an IT guy, and write stories instead. I was really entertained by your skill!

Holy cow. Did you really make up a word AND a definition? I’ve always wanted to do that, but i feel like all definitions are made up already. . .
