Awesome Story of the Day

oldguySo Merrill Lynch totally goofed up and invited me to a ritzy lunch for soon-to-be-retirees up in the Petroleum Club (Exxon-Mobil’s fancy members-only club on the top floor of our building).  It was AWESOME! I just sat and ate lunch and pretended to be engrossed in their retirement packages. Hopefully someone there thought I was just a ridiculously successful kid that’s retiring early.

Goodness it’s a good day.

Some Awesome Lady

Alright… so I follow this blog called SoulPancake. It’s just about asking deep questions and then commenting on them. I found this lady named Kaschua (at least that’s her screenname) who writes the most profound comments I’ve ever seen. I don’t know how to link to the exact post I found, but here’s the text:

“As an introvert, my personality is sometimes a mystery, even to myself. Read More »

You’re Self-Conscious

nervousjoeI’m going to start a group. SSCPNSA. Somewhat Self-Concious People Not-So-Anonymous. I’m becoming convinced that there is no one in the world that wouldn’t qualify for the club. If you’ve ever done any of the following, welcome to the club:

I Saw a Skyscraper Today. That’s Awesome.

babyLet me tell you a story.  A long time ago, you were a baby.  You sat there, looked around, grinned (but didn’t know why), and drooled on whatever object happened to be placed in your inch-long hands.  You didn’t care about possessions.  You didn’t know about the worries of the world.  You loved grinning and drooling.  And away you drooled.

Thoughts for the Day

It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything, and a whole lot longer since I’ve just written something that doesn’t make sense. Therefore, here are the things I’m thinking right now:

revolving_doorSecurity badges – freaking awesome.  There is no greater feeling than walking by Herbert the security guard, flashing your badge at the scanner, and watching the magic revolving doors begin to spin (for exactly 180 degrees, allowing entry only to you).  Every Read More »

Ode to the Wingman

houston_skylineI finally made it to Houston! For the first time in my life, I’m living on my own in a real sense–as a matter of fact, I’m 25 hours away from life in Provo, if you drive. On a scale from 1 to “on your own”, I’m at least an 8.5. So far, living in the city looks pretty awesome Read More »

Angry/Wrathful Scriptures and a Loving God

For quite a while, I’ve wondered how the Savior, the loving, caring caretaker/creator of our universe and our individual lives, make such statements as this one in D&C 29:

17 And it shall come to pass, because of the wickedness of the world, that I will take vengeance upon the wicked, for they will not repent: for the cup of mine indignation is full; for behold, my blood shall not cleanse them if they hear me not. Read More »

Captcha!

Don’t you love those little things with all the ridiculously hard-to-read letters? You know, the ones you have to fill in to sign up on certain websites, or maybe to leave a comment on a friend’s blog? They’re called “Captchas” and their sole purpose in life is to make sure you’re not a robot. Cool job.

picture-1

Tell me, though, do they really have to look like this?  I know I’m going to get it wrong.  I’m trying to not be a robot… but they keep telling me I am Read More »

New American Classic

On Monday this week, our little band played in the ward talent show.  We played New American Classic by Taking Back Sunday, and I think it turned out pretty sweet; our friend Celia played violin for the song and it added a ton to the sound! Anyway, here’s our friend Ashley’s video of the performance:

The Most Awesomest Phone Ever

I’m going to warn you… this is a very nerdy post about a really cool cell phone.  If that’s not your cup of tea, thanks for stopping by.  If you like gadgets, let me tell you a story:

imagesA long time ago there was a company named Palm.  They made little things called Palm Pilots–remember those? Read More »
