Instructions
This page is for the authors of the blog. How to do a few random useful things:
Add a Link to a Post
To add a link to a page you want people to see (so that they don’t have to copy the link off of your post into the address bar), just highlight the word or phrase in your post you want to make a link and click the link button above the text editor:
That’s it! Just type in the address you want them to be able to go to and you’re done.
Embed Videos Into Your Post
Next to most videos on YouTube, the Onion, Google Video, or any other site is a spot on the page (or video itself) that says “embed.” This box will provide you with a string of HTML code. Just copy this code, open your new post page, and click the “HTML” button:
Paste the code in, and you’re done!
Note: if the site gives you an option for video size, don’t embed videos that are wider than about 500 pixels. You’ll be able to tell if it is–right after you post it, the sidebar on the page will disappear and everything will look funny.
Add a High-Res Picture to Your Post
Click the photo upload button:
Click select files, and allow the photo to upload. The following page will be displayed:
Click the File URL button (highlighted above) to automatically make your small blog post picture into a link to your high-resolution picture. Then, select how large you want the photo to display in your post (one of the three options highlighted at the bottom).
Note: Don’t click full size. That will just create a small looking (but giant in file size) picture in your blog, which makes it take a lot longer to load. Choose a smaller size–your photo will display full size any time that a person clicks on it.
Get Automatic Updates On Blog Posts
All you need to do for this is add the RSS feed for our site. If you’ve never done it before, it only takes about five minutes to figure out. Read this previous blog to learn how.
